The free download is confirmed via The Sims twitter account, the game was first released in the year 2014. If there is another file in the folder, The Sims 4.par, leave it alone.
Don't drag the file as it will only move an alias and leave the original in place. Right click on The Sims 4 and select Move to Trash. In your Applications folder right click on the Sims 4 app and select Show Package Contents. Add Sims 4 and Origin as an exception to your Antivirus/Firewall (refer to the handbook of the software you use) Start the game and Origin as administrator. If I try to move my Sims 4 folder around in the Documents section Origin asks to download a new install helper tool. I cannot adjust any settings in Origin either. Origin will open and when I click on Sims 4 it does not do anything. Second, I cannot get my Sims 4 to open, at all, on my Mac after installing OS Catalina. You will need Origins Client to download the free version of Sims 4. So this is your time to download a free copy of Sims 4 Standard Edition, also check the minimum system requirement to run Sims 4 on Windows. EA is offering a free copy of Sims 4 for a limited time, the game is available for free download on PC and Mac OS till May 28, 2019.
